Coat and Sweater Drive for Rose Brooks Center Now Through November 13, 2014 at World's Window

It's that time of year again. As the weather gets cooler, perhaps with some frost on the ground, we start pulling out sweaters and jackets and coats to keep us warm throughout the winter. At Rose Brooks Center, the women and children that arrive for shelter from domestic violence often come without coats and many times without any additional clothing besides what they are wearing.

New and gently-used warm, winter coats and sweaters for both women and children are needed and can be dropped off at World’s Window in Brookside during their fifth annual Coat and Sweater Drive, October 13 - November 13, 2014.

The weeks leading up to the winter holidays are usually promoted with images of family gatherings, platters of food and lots of warmth and love. For many women, their daily experiences are filled with fear and injury rather than expressions of love. The staff at World’s Window is wrapping some warmth - literally and figuratively - around the women and children at Rose Brooks Center with the donations of coats and sweaters.

World's Window is delighted to partner again with Rose Brooks (www.rosebrooks.org) as the recipient of the coat donations because of their mission to break the cycle of domestic violence so that individuals and families can live free of abuse. Tower Cleaners has also joined the project for the fifth year providing cleaning for the few coats and sweaters that might need a bit of touch-up.

“This project continues to be a perfect fit for our store and our customers. At World’s Window our mission is to celebrate the creativity of the human mind, spirit and experience and our customers love the idea of helping others. It’s an added bonus that they get a discount towards something new and exciting for themselves or towards holiday gifts,” says Jan Buerge, owner of World's Window.

In exchange for coat or sweater donations, the generous donors will receive a 20% off coupon that can be used any day through November 13, 2014, especially during the Welcome to the Holidays party on Thursday, November 13 from 4 - 8 p.m. There's no limit to the number of coats and sweaters a customer can donate. However, World's Window asks that every coat donated be new or in clean, excellent condition so that they can be used right away.
